NOTE:
"Requiem" for Mixed Choir was composed in1992 for the choral director, Miroslav Košler and the ČKD Chorus's tour of Japan in 1993. Within the traditional seven-part form of the Mass for the Dead, Lukáš works with a wide range or expressions and moods: contemplation of the human lot in "Requiem aeternam," intense drama in "Dies Irae," lyrical melodiousness in the delightful "Lacrimosa," virile courage in the "Offertorium," quiet pensiveness in "Hostias," solemnity in the "Sanctus," and a feeling of reconciliation in the "Agnus Dei." Zdeněk Lukáš "Requiem" is not an elegy on the tragedy of death, but a deeply emotional expression of the composer's belief in the survival of spirit and also a declaration of his love of life with whatever belongs to it.
