VOLLINGER, WILLIAM

The music of William Vollinger is described as “3D: different, direct and deep,” performed by artists including the Gregg Smith Singers and NY Vocal Arts Ensemble, whose performance of “Three Songs About the Resurrection” won first prize at the Geneva International Competition. “Violinist in the Mall” won the Friends and Enemies of New Music Competition. "Sound Portraits," recorded by Capstone, features soprano Linda Ferreira, including "The Child in the Hole," the true story of a Jewish boy who was hidden for three years during the Holocaust. "Acts of Kindness" was a finalist in the 2006 N.A.T.S. song cycle competition. "Songs of the 3 Miriams" was a finalist in the 2007 Sacred Voice compeition. Tennessee Technological University presented an entire concert of his music. His works have been performed and broadcast in Europe, United States, and Asia. NPR devoted an hour program to his music.

 

He’s published by Abingdon, Alliance Publications, Inc., Heritage, Kjos, Lawson-Gould, and Laurendale. Five works were editor's choices in the J.W. Pepper Catalogue. 2014 premieres include Jackson State Symphony, San Francisco Choral Artists, Ridgewood Concert Band, and Hamilton-Fairfield Symphony. Hartshorn Recordings is releasing an album of his music in 2014.
