VOLLINGER, WILLIAM

He’s published by Abingdon, Alliance Publications, Inc., Heritage, Kjos, Lawson-Gould, and Laurendale. Five works were editor's choices in the J.W. Pepper Catalogue. 2014 premieres include Jackson State Symphony, San Francisco Choral Artists, Ridgewood Concert Band, and Hamilton-Fairfield Symphony. Hartshorn Recordings is releasing an album of his music in 2014.
Writing in Fanfare Magazine Raymond Beegle writes “I have known his work for years and believe, after much consideration, that there is genius in it. With astonishing depth and clarity, Vollinger brings his subjects to life. One finds a new musical language, not born out of a desire to be new, but a desire to be clear and to tell the truth.”
Artist Statement:
"The intent of my composition is: 1. to explore new territory, 2. to unify words and music both in sound and expression, 3. to create a sense of compassion for our human condition, 4. paraphrasing Handel, not so much to entertain people as to make them better, and 5. even if it's not a religious work, to honestly glorify God, not myself."
