TICHÝ, ANTONÍN
Antonín Tichý is a master brass musician, composer and conductor, his work provides a wonderful audience pleaser. The concert polka form, born in Bohemia, provides great joy and a sense of beauty to those who experience it. Tichý is a retired Band Master of the highest order and highly respected for his musicianship. He is an excellent representative of a classical composer applying his gifts to the folk art, thereby creating a whole new listening sensation! The sophistication of the arranging and harmonic scoring and counterpoint is refreshing to experience. Czech polkas always have texts, for they tell a story. Antonín Tichý, born on the 28th of January, 1934 in Prague, Czechoslovakia. After graduating from the Music High School, he studied at the Prague Conservatory from 1953-1958. Here he learned to play French Horn from Professor Miroslav Štefek. In 1958, he became a musician in a professional orchestra in Prague.
He studied musical form and composition with Professor Jaroslav Kofroň. Furthermore, he learned conducting and instrumentation from Professor Jindřich Praveček. In 1976, Antonín Tichý became a music reporter for Czechoslovak Radio Prague. He has been composing music since his student years, initially writing pieces for small orchestras, and later for concert bands. In all, he has created 87 compositions out of which 21 are for concert bands.
Since 1985, Antonín Tichý has been the artistic director of the brass band, Jitřenka Prague. They performed not only in the Czech Republic but also in many European countries, eg. Spain, France, Germany, Austria and Russia.
Antonín Tichý, životopis Narodil jsem se 28. ledna 1934 v Praze. Po ukončení Střední umělecké hudební školy, jsem v roce 1953 – 1958 studoval Pražskou konzervatoř obor lesní roh u profesora Miroslava Štefka. Od roku 1958 jsem působil jako hudebník z povolání v profesionálním orchestru v Praze.
Soukromě jsem studoval u prof. Jaroslava Kofroně hudební formy a kompozici. Dirigování a instrumentaci jsem studoval u prof. Jindřicha Pravečka.
V roce 1976 jsem byl po profesním pohovoru přijat do Československého rozhlasu Praha jako hudební redaktor.
Od svých studentských let jsem se věnoval skladatelské čin- nosti.
Z počátku to bylo pro malé orchestry a později také pro velké symfonické orchestry.
Napsal jsem celkem 87 skladeb z toho 21 skladeb pro velký symfonický orchestr.
Od roku 1985 jsem uměleckým vedoucím dechového orchestru Jitřenka Praha.
S tímto orchestrem jsme účinkovali také v zahraničí- Španělsko, Francie, Německo, Rakouskoa také v Rusku.
