Joel Raaen, composer, choral director and trombone player residing in Faribault, Minnesota, has been professionally active as a church and community choir director and leader of community wind ensembles for over 30 years. His dual interest and expertise has led him to adapt these Renaissance titles for todays brass ensembles to acquaint students and amateur players with this genre of literature. Raaen is a graduate of Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he studied under Leland B. Sateren for four years. He has been a K-12 music teacher, a member of a dance band, and heavily involed in community and church music. He is currently employed at the Minnesota Academy for the Blind and perfoms in two instrumental chamber music ensembles.
