Christmas puppets and puppet theaters, which at that time were a gift that helped give children the greatest pleasure, were inherent in Christmas. Nowadays, the so-extended family theaters are rather collectible rarities.
The biggest boom in family puppet theater in the first half of the 20th century. Playing in homes and schools. Thanks to this tradition, the Czech modern puppet theater and the Czech puppet film, which gained international fame, were later born.
Full puppet theaters and individual marionettes, including the popular Kašpárka, will be shown at the show. All the exhibits are from the collection of Marie Jirásková, artist and documentary director Pavel Jirásek from Brno. After thirty years of systematic collectible interest, their collection is a comprehensive collection focused mainly on family and federal theater from the end of the 19th century until 1950. Both collectors of historical puppets also write and participate in a number of exhibition projects at home and abroad.
The name of the exhibition commemorates the popular play of Czech puppeteers about Faust, in which Kašpar performs with his distinctive exclamation of "pidluke padluke".
