KRUNNFUSZ, DAN (b. 1955)

Creating and bringing to life new music is an important part of the Madison Boychoir's artistic programming. Recent works commissioned by the Boychoir include Les Thimmig's "Holy Cow" (world premiere May 1997) and Stephen Paulus' "Brown Penny" (world premiere May 1998), and "Hodie" by Taras Nahirniak. In May 1999, Dan Krunnfusz took the spotlight with his a cappella work "Mass in Times of Struggle," written for the Britten choir.
Recent appearances include several performances with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, broadcasts on Wisconsin Public Radio and project collaborations with Arts for Understanding, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Madison Children’s Choir and Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Madison Boychoir produces annual concerts for the community each December and May. Throughout the year, all members participate in outreach programs at elementary schools, nursing homes and community centers. Summer and winter music camps, a favorite part of the Boychoir program for many choristers, allow the boys extended rehearsal time balanced with social and recreational activities which helps build esprit de corps and lifelong friendships.
