COVA, MATTIA (b. 1969)
Composer's Words: After studying Percussion Instruments at the Conservatory of Piacenza and Musicology at the University of Cremona, I moved to composition, graduating in Film Scoring at the Bournemouth University. From the very beginning of my career, I devoleped both the contemporary music composing and the writing of soundtracks. My professional career started as a radio jingles composer. Later on I moved to television, creating many soundtracks for programs, shows, films and commercials. At present I am working on compositions for production music libraries and committed works for video. At the same time I compose chamber works for different kind of instruments, focusing on the writing for the classical guitar, and on chamber pieces for mallet instruments. Recently published titles are Linee and Angolazioni for vibraphone and marimba, a book of Ten Modern Studies for guitar, Visèe for clarinet trio and La Catedral by Agustin Barrios adapted for marimba. In these days I am finalizing a book of Eighteen Guitar Studies based on Bach’s chorales. Future projects are a series of Five Pieces, a Cuban Suite in four movements and 12 Cuban Boleros for the classical guitar."
