COGGINS, ALAN (b. 1932)
Alan Coggins, (b. 1932, Dagenham, Essex, England), is a pianist and composer trained at the Royal Academy of Music, London, England. His piano expertise enabled him to be an accompanist to many singers. He was the pianist and director of the Valence Ensemble in London which performed a large repertoire of chamber music. Coggins has had an interest in working with dancers and choreographers, including a former member of the Harlem Dance Theatre. His compositions include choral and orchestral works, chamber music and electronic scores for choreographers. He has been a Senior Lecturer in Performance Arts at Middlesex University in London.
