CHAUDOIR, JAMES (b. 1947)

James Chaudoir (b. 1946, Baton Rouge, Louisiana), composer and recorderist is Professor Emeritus of Music Composition at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. He has composed a wide range of works for vocal and instrumental ensembles from solo performer to choir and orchestra and many pieces incorporating dance as well as the electronic medium.

As a composer, performer, and teacher, his musical career has spanned several decades. During his career, he has performed many of the major Baroque solo recorder works and chamber pieces. However, his real passion is contemporary music. In recent years, he has devoted most of his creative time towards arranging for recorder consorts of various sizes, and composing new works for recorder solo and ensembles, many of which call for extended techniques.

When not involved with music, he spends time sharing the delights of his native Louisiana cuisine with family and friends.
